Love Street announces major TONIC expansion
June 11, 2010
At its June 2 anniversary event, Love Street announced a major expansion of its TONIC hospital music program.
Over past two years, TONIC performances have occurred monthly at Texas Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospital for Children. At Texas Children’s the performances have been set in renal care and cancer treatment areas. The major limitation of this setup is that it requires performances to occur on weekdays in the daytime. It also fails to provide any service to patients not in those areas.
The expanded program will bring music to other areas of Texas Children’s. It is also much more flexible in its scale and schedule, meaning that many more musicians can participate. At its rollout, which will occur in several weeks, the new TONIC will bring more than five times the amount of music, as compared to the past system.
With the expansion comes additional expense. Those interested in supporting Love Street’s work with a financial contribution may do so directly on Love Street’s website. Contributions of any amount are appreciated.
