Spring is here and that means it is almost time for the second annual Love Street Spring Music Festival! This year’s event on June 5 has something for everyone - from award winning family entertainment to good old rock and roll from some Houston favorites.

In addition to being a rockin’ good time. the Love Street Spring Music Festival is a fundraiser for Love Street Light Circus. Your contributions will help us continue and expand great programs like TONIC and events like Come Together. The afternoon session is FREE for all ages. The evening session is just $10 at the door or $8 in advance at the Love Street Online Store.

AFTERNOON SESSION - FREE FAMILY FUN!!!
(Doors open at 11:30)

We will start the afternoon on Bohemeos covered outdoor stage with the best children’s entertainment Houston has to offer: Rachel Buchman, Glynace Eastham and Stefan Ruoss will perform selections from their children’s albums. And crowd favorite juggler Claude Sims (http://claudesims.com) is also scheduled to appear. Bohemeos is a great spot for the whole family. The fenced courtyard area (where the outdoor stage is) is a safe place for kids to run around. We’re planning lots of great activities for the kids, including a moonwalk, face painting and more!

STEFAN RUOSS (12:00) - Stefan hails from Switzerland but found his way to Houston, where he teaches 6th grade at Trafton Academy. Stefan recently released his first CD, Animal Tower. Stefan’s students say that the “banana song” is not to be missed! www.littlelaughsmusic.com

GLYNACE EASTHAM (1:00) - Glynace is a singer-songwriter specializing in acoustic folk and children’s music. After years of teaching elementary school, she returned to her award-winning musical roots. Her Sugarbaby release was named “CD of the Year” by Creative Child Magazine in 2009. glynace.com

RACHEL BUCHMAN’S HOMEMADE BAND - Rachel Buchman’s albums, workshops and concert performances have made her songs a staple of classrooms and nurseries around the globe and have received prestigious American Library Association, Parent’s Choice and Oppenheimer Toy awards. (Source: Amazon.com )

TIE-DYE SKY (3:00) - Tie-Dye Sky’s set will mark the musical transition to more adult-oriented tunes, but kids of all ages will love their selection of 60s pop and rock tunes from The Beatles, The Monkees, The Turtles and more! The band makes an effort to bring you songs that you know and love but don’t hear any more. And you may even hear a preview of a song or two that the band will play at Love Street’s Come Together event on September 17. Groovy baby! tiedyeskyband.com

LOS VERTIGOS (4:00) - With group members from as far as Mission, Texas (near the Rio Grande Valley) and Denver, Colorado, Los Vertigos banded together in 2006 to make your head spin and knock you off balance with their personal blend of classic Roots-Rock, Alt. Country, Americana and Tex-Mex. Los Vertigos place emphasis on performing the music of songwriters and bands from Texas; both rock and country, past and present, which are in the national as well as the local spotlight. At 7:00 we will move indoors to rock the night away with a fabulous lineup including headliner Herschel Berry!

TC & THE CANNONBALLS (7:00) - TC is Tim Cannon. TC and the Cannonballs have opened  for many distinguished blues acts such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Albert King, The Texas Tornadoes, Los Lobos, Room Full of Blues, John Hammond, Delbert McClinton, and Buddy Guy. Tim has played with Albert Collins, Johnny Winter, I.P. Sweat and Billy Gibbons to name a few. Houston blues challenge Finalists 2010. Brother in law to Doyle Bramhall, Sr. and Uncle of Doyle Bramhall, Jr., a Texas Blues Rock pedigree.  www.tcandthecannonballs.com

BIG AL BETTIS (8:30) - A guitar slinging veteran of Houston, Austin and Nashville, Big Al twice appeared on KPFT’s Guitarzilla (12 best in Houston) and Joe’s Roadhouse live broadcasts and most recently, the Houston International festival.  Big Al was member of the Austin All Stars, a revolving group of the most established players during the heyday of the early ’80s. He played on the All Stars Album, jammed with the likes of Eric Johnson and Van Wilks, and produced an album cut for those greats. Al hosted the blues jam for about six years with Teri Greene at DanElectros Guitar Bar and co-wrote Quintana with Carolyn Wonderland, which is featured on her CD “Play With Matches” and Bettis’ first release “The Big Album”, which was recorded in the Houston Heights and Nashville. The band features the legendary Dr. Rock Romano, and blues harp and vocal virtuoso, Little Terry Rogers. HERSCHEL BERRY (10:00) - The instantly recognizable Herschel Berry has been honing his unique image, high energy stage show, original rock and rockabilly songs for Houston audiences for over two decades and is still powerful as ever, as witnessed by his most recently appearance at the Art Car Ball.  Herschel was chosen by Sugar Hill studios to cut The Big Bopper’s biggest hit Chantilly Lace as part of a SugarHill compilation CD that features local and national artists remaking hit records recorded at SugarHill Recording Studios (previously known as Gold Star Studios).  ”The Police are touring America for the first time.
