Love Street is announcing today the formation of its Advisory Board. We have long depended on the advice of community leaders in the areas of nonprofits, business, medicine and the arts. With the creation of the Advisory Board, we are merely institutionalizing this practice.
It is only proper that David Adickes be named to the position of Honorary Chair of the Advisory Board. David has been involved with the modern incarnation of Love Street Light Circus from its inception. He was also an honoree at the White Album for Purple Songs event in 2008. Congratulations and thanks (again) to David. The honor is ours.
Shriners Hospital for Children in Houston asked us to pass this along, which of course we are happy to do. The week of May 10-14 is Hospital Appreciation Week. Shriners will be having activities throughout the day, but with an emphasis on 11:30-1:30. They are seeking volunteer musicians to perform as part of these activities. If you are interested, or if you have any questions, please contact Vickie Cartee at vcartee(at)shrinenet.org or 713-793-3836.
Love Street is pleased to announce that this year’s Come Together event will honor Terri and Andy DiRaddo. Andy is a principal of LD Systems. LD has for many years been a great supporter of the entire Houston nonprofit community. Andy geatly deserves recognition and honor for his role in that. For Terri, nonprofit work has been both vocation and cause. In particular, she has worked extensively benefitting the needy in Honduras. While we more typically focus on Houston, it seemed only fitting to honor them as a couple. We hope you will join us on September 17 to honor Terri and Andy!
The second annual Love Street Spring Music Festival is slated for June 5. Where last year's event was spread over two afternoons, this year it will span one day and evening. The event will start at 1:00 on Bohemeos' outdoor stage with the former Love Street band, now known as Tie-Dye Sky. It will continue there through the afternoon and move inside in the evening. The remaining lineup will be announced soon.
Join us next Saturday at noon to learn how you can get involved with Love Street. We’ll be talking about specific areas of need but also calling on your creativity to explore opportunities for growth of our programs. This will also include discussion of volunteer opportunities for the Come Togtether event.
The meeting will be held at Bohemeos, which is 708 Telephone Rd. at Lockwood. You can see a map at its website,www.bohemeos.com.
There is no need to RSVP, but please feel free to call or write Patrick if you have any questions. His contacts are 713-256-9007 and patrick@lovestreetlightcircus.org.
